Virtual Box does not recognize 64 bit system

Hope This is not covered somewhere else. I did try to find it, but couldn't, so here goes. I have an HP Pavilion Entertainment laptop, Windows 8.1, and 8 GBs of RAM. When I run Virtual Box it does not give me any options for a 64 bit system. It only "sees" a 32 bit system which I do not have. Thus I have not been able to run the Windows 10 thing. Any ideas why?

Actually it is covered multiple times in the forum.
See:
I have a 64bit host, but can't install 64bit guests

Thank you Mr. King for the link you posted. I did not know what to search for. I have a hard enough time just trying to find my glasses! I will look into this a little more and see what I can find. Here's hoping!

I'm baaaaaaaaaack. After going to the link that Mr. King posted, I found that the BIOS was not set to enable Virtualization. I enabled it and ran the program just fine until it got to the Install screen. After signing the agreement page, it gave me a box with this message in it-
"The computer started using the Windows Installation media. Remove the installation media and restart your computer so that Windows starts normally. Then, insert the installation media and restart the upgrade. Do not select Custom [advanced] to perform an upgrade. Custom [advanced] installs a new copy of Windows and deletes your programs and settings."
How do I get around that? I'm trying to run the Windows 10 tech preview in Virtual Box and I used the iso file that I downloaded. I did reboot, although I was 99 44/100% sure it wouldn't make any difference and it didn't, of course.
What's next?
Thanks for your help.
Ron

Select Custom and make sure under the VirtualBox General Tab Windows 8.1 (64 bit) is selected.

I would also suggest that you make sure that the host is not giving you this warning. Some users burn the ISO to CD/DVD and have auto start enabled. Just be careful.

I wasn't sure what you meant by 'Custom', but did find it, chose that, and I finally have it running!!
Thanks so much!
