I used Microsofts DisktoVHD tool to create a VHD of a physical machine. I then installed Virtual Box 4.3.20 r96997 on a Windows 2012 R2 Essentials server. Hyper-V is not available so I had to use Virtual Box. However after I built the VM in Virtual box and tried to start it all I get is a black screen. Nothing every comes up. Is there something I am doing wrong?

Try toggling the IO-APIC setting in the VM recipe.
