[Solved] Resize Storage

Post by KitchM »

I have Windows XP on a Ubuntu host. I am using virtualbox 4.3.10-dfsg-1 from Ubuntu (r93012) with guest additions.

I created the vdi drive and everything is fine, except that it is running out of space. I understood that it would automatically adjust.

How do I resize the drive to be larger? (See attached screenshot.)

Thanks.

Dynamic .vdis only take up the amount of space that is contained in them but, they only "grow" to the capacity set for the drive.

Thanks. I had the right link. I just didn't notice a 1 was dropped for some reason. Corrected. :)

For step 2, I also found that one can go into their Windows guest and install a program called Mini Partition Wizard. It is free from here:
http://www.partitionwizard.com/download.html
and extremely easy to use. One does not need to boot off a boot disk and the problem is solved very easily.

Thanks for your direction.
