Separate VM static IP than host

Hello,
I am running a Windows Server 2008 Host, and I have installed a Windows 7 guest OS.
The Host is a server that has 2 static IP's configured in control panel.
How do I get the host to use 1 IP, and my VM guest OS to use the other?
Thank you,
Tom

IPs can not be shared so you would need to release one if you want the guest to have a dedicated IP. Keep in mind that this will cause you to need to work with whomever is providing the addresses to provide route statements.

Thanks for the information. Can you elaborate a little, on these "route statements" that you speak of?

Short version is you need to route IP addresses between point a and point b. Your upstream provider knows how and does this for you. Now some providers don't want to be bothered and refuse to do the routing but that is what needs to be done to have two separate PCs with unique address.
