Hey guys, first off I want to say I have done about 3 hours worth of searching before posting this but I installed virtualbox a few days ago and recently uninstalled it and once it was uninstalled and my computer was restarted I can no longer connect to the internet. I am able to connect to my wireless router and my computer (when clicking diagnose) seems to think I am connected to the internet but I am not. I have tried reinstalling virtualbox and selecting different networking types to no avail. I have also tried uninstalling all network adapters and reinstalling them to no avail.

When running ipconfig I get:
IPv4 Address: 192.168.1.51
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.1.1

Everything else below that says media disconnected. Under network adapters only intel centrino wireless N-135 and realtek PCIe GBE family controller are listed.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. Any help would be appreciated, I don't think I have ever been this frustrated with a computer.

I don't see how this can be VirtualBox related. With VBox installed your host networking should be fine. With VBox uninstalled? ... ditto, at the very least.

However, you can look in the device manager to see if any VirtualBox devices remain. I'm going to assume not, and hence that you need to answer in a Windows forum why your internet might not be working.

To dispel any myths: VirtualBox is just a normal application. The fact that it simulates hardware doesn't give it any magical influence over actual host hardware. If you turn a simulator off the the simulated thing is gone.

I'll offer suggestions, but bear in mind that this site isn't for Windows support.

Only two possibilities I can think of that VirtualBox is even peripherally involved: (1) if there was some problem with the Windows uninstaller then a virtual network driver could be left behind, hence the check in 2nd para above. If this existed then the host might be trying to get an internet connection on a dead virtual network (not gonna work). (2) When you uninstalled the VBox network drivers, the host may have decided to reshuffle the filter stacks associated with each host NIC, resulting in a bad driver being selected.

You need to look at your host network connections, see what NICs are available, and what services are attached to them.
