Setup Info:

Oracle VirtualBox-4.3.20-96996-OSX

Guest additions not installed

Host: iMac OSX Ver 10.9.5

Guest: Oracle Linux 7, 64-bit
=========================================
Problem/Question: I have configured Shared folder in VirtualBox --->Settings--->Shared Folders. It is auto-mount and Access Full. Please see attached screenshot of that setup.

What do I need to do on Linux Guest to access that folder? I am novice, any help will be appreciated.

Thank You.

Make sure that your user name is in the vboxsf group on the guest and the mount will be in /media/

But you *must install the guest additions for a shared folder to work.

Thank you for your kind reply.

I don't have VBOXSF group on my Linux system. Per your advice, I need to do the following:

1- Install the guest additions for a shared folder to work. ( How?) ( I will do the google search on it)

2- Create the BOXSF group and add my user (oracle) to that group

3- I am confused about /media and mount. Please clarify, if possible.

Thanks.

Just get the additions installed and reboot the guest. The vboxsf group is created once the additions are installed. Then you can add your user name to the group. Once this is all done use the file manager or terminal and look in /media and you will find your share.
