Error VirtualCOM Server is not running

Hi there,

I'm trying to create a new virtual disk pointing one Seagate USB 1 TB and I get the following error:

C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox>VBoxManage internalcommands createrawvmdk -filename "%USERPROFILE%"\.VirtualBox\usb.vmdk -rawdisk \\.\PhysicalDrive1
VBoxManage.exe: error: Failed to create the VirtualBox object!
VBoxManage.exe: error: Code CO_E_SERVER_EXEC_FAILURE (0x80080005) - Server execution failed (extended info not available)
VBoxManage.exe: error: Most likely, the VirtualBox COM server is not running or failed to start.

*First of all I got the satisfied disk number:
DISKPART> list disk

Disk ### Status Size Free Dyn Gpt
-------- ------------- ------- ------- --- ---
Disk 0 Online 119 GB 0 B
Disk 1 Online 931 GB 0 B

I'm stuck with that, apparently everything's fine. I've got one Virtual Machine running successfully (Mac OS) but my .VDI file is stored in my local disk on my laptop and I need more space.

Any help would be very appreciated,

My host OS is Windows 7 Ultimate Edition, 8 Gb Ram

Enric

Just a friendly comment. Running OSX on non-Apple hardware violates Apple's SLA.

Hi loukingjr,

First of all thanks for your quick response.

Yes, I perfectly know that but let me tell you one thing: I've got one MacBook Air, a couple of iPad and three iPod. Reason for using a Virtual Machine? My wife love my Mac... moreover, I'm NET developer on Windows stuff with +15 years of experience. My upcoming project must be done directly on Mac platform but up to the moment, due to the aforementioned comment about my wife, I need to run a Virtual Machine. By the way, let me know how can I run MAC OS from Windows without using a pirate copy...

So that, can you help me please?

Thanks in advance,

enricviv

You can't. And you will not find answers in these forums, it's not allowed. You could be banned if you continue to ask about it.

Actually I can't, or won't I suppose. I made a personal decision years ago not to help those knowingly violating Apple's SLA. No matter how many Macs they may own.

Someone will be along to help with your problem though. I just wouldn't mention running OSX on anything but Apple hardware. Any other questions are welcome.

Just curious, why didn't you just create the guest in question to your local disk then just move the whole folder to the external drive?

actually it is possible. I do it all the time. you can do it before you install the OS if you like. Makes for a smaller transfer.
