hi.
i just created a new VM for ubuntu. but now the question is, how do i actually install ubuntu in that new VM? do i have to burn ubuntu to a CD and then install it from that CD into my new VM, or is there an easier way?

gee, you really don't look at manuals.
just attach the .iso directly to the CD/DVD controller in the storage settings.

Ok, I managed to install Ubuntu, but now I have another problem:
Screen resolution is stuck at 640x480 which in nowhere near enough. Problem is, 640x480 is the only option available in the system settings. Is there a setting that I havent found? What can I do?

you need to install the guest additions. see the user manual.
