Hi,

As am new to virtualbox i hope you can help.

I have setup a Windows 8.1 Guest on a Windows Host with 7.1. onboard Sound (ALC882 Chip).

The Surround Sound is working properly on the Host OS. But on Windows GUEST i have problems.

In the Windows Guest Control Panel i can configure Surround Sound but it seems that all channels are mixed (not seperated), because i have all the same sound an all speakers?! Is that a VirtualBox Problem or a Problem on the Windows Guest or Host OS?

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Regards

It's a virtual machine. The sound card in the VM is emulated - you chose an emulation in the VM settings. The type of sound card your host uses is not relevant.

Actually you can't. Unless the developers of VirtualBox decided multi-channel support was important in a guest, it's not likely to happen. Besides, trying to run surround sound from a virtual machine would have all sorts of performance problems.
