Can't import older .ova file

I created this VM on 4/7/2012. I don't remember what version of VB i used.
I now have 4.3.20 (With extensions? I don't know).
When i either try to double click on the file or import I get:
"Failed to create the VirtualBox COM object
The application will now terminate."
Details: Callee RC: CO_E_SERVER_EXEC_FAILURE (0x80080005)

After this I can't even start the program , i continue to get the same message and it quits.
Or it starts, i get no message and don't even see the program but it runs in Processes.



I really need things on this VM. It will take me hours to set this thing back up again.

That error AFAIK usually means that VirtualBox is not installed properly. Unfortunately you have said nothing about your host, so I can't advise further.

p.s. I doesn't really affect this discussion, but you should be made aware that "4/7/2012" is ambiguous. Different regions use different date formats. Better to say, e.g., "July 2012".

WIndows 7 64bit.

And yes , somehow I missed the part about how clicking the "Install" button on the installer may result in it not being installed "properly".

I could not get any version to run until I did these steps:

Cleared .virtualbox folder from user folder
Cleared VirtualBox install directory
Cleared every single registry entry for VirtualBox. (registry crawler)

Turned on virtualization for processor in system bios
Installed 4.1.32
Installed 4.1.32 extensions

Its a shame people using this have to read about 50 different posts on the subject, and piece them together to fix it due to lack of support on this program.

If you have a problem with the Windows installer (MSI) or Windows default permissions then I suggest you take your grievance to Microsoft. I'm sure they'll be keen to hear what you have to say.
