USB DVD Drive Help

I'm running Mavericks 10.9.5 host with a Win 8.1 guest using Virtual Box 4.3.20. My USB DVD drive works fine on the MAC and I see it on the Win host but unable to run the content on the DVD. Keeps going into a Windows updated for some reason. Assistance appreciated.
