Windows Installer issues with Windows 7

Post by Vincentertainment »

Hello,
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate guest on a Ubuntu 14.10 host.
After my first installation, I had trouble with the Windows installer. I tried every fix I could google. After nothing worked, I tried a fresh installation from scratch. I'm still having issues with the installer.
After 2 installs from scratch, I'm wondering if this is an issue with the virtual machine its running in.
Anyone had experience with this issue or have good advice to start troubleshooting? I'm pretty new to VirtualBox.
Thank You

This is my first time using the VBoxManage reports and Log files. Let me know if I've included everything properly and thanks for your help.

  1. You're running the 4.3.18 Ubuntu version of VirtualBox. You need to download the official version from https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads
  2. You are using the 4.3.20 version Extension Pack. The Extension Packs (all of them) must match the VirtualBox version.
  3. You have 4 cores in your host. You assign 4 cores in your guest. Big problem. No more than 2.
Most importantly, you said you had a problem with the Windows Installer on your guest. You didn't mention the problem in the Windows guest that you're having, any error messages or what program you're trying to install. Since this seems 99% a problem with the Windows installer and not VirtualBox itself, you might have a better luck in a Windows forum. In any case, try the first three points first and see if that fixes it.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
