I am getting BSOD when starting my Windows 7 image I created from my exiting hard drive. I want to have a working back up of my windows 7 system, and I have tried several different virtual hard drive imaging programs with the same results.
Booting into safe mode wont work either. I event tried modifying the driver that safe mode stops on and then I made a new image file. Same problem just stops on a new driver.
Stop: 0x0000007B BSOD

0x7B is "I can't find my disk drive"!
Often the fix is to configure the VM to attach the hard disk image to an IDE controller.
p.s. I hope you realize that you need to stop using this Windows license on the physical PC it came from: it will be invalidated when you activate the VM license.
