I have no idea what host you are running so I have no idea how you should compress it.

Your primary OS lists Windows 8. If it is, then at least up to Windows 7 (Might be the same in 8 too) you can right-click a file or folder, choose Send To, then Compressed (zipped) folder, and you'll get a zip file named same as the file or folder you right-clicked. Post that zip file. Other OS's, google, I'd suppose...

The log claims you are installing Windows 2000, not Win98 as you said. There is a big difference, since Win98 is based on DOS rather than the NT kernel.

Which is it?

As to the crash on startup, it seems to me that you must have modified the default recipe: configuring the VM to use a SATA hard drive, which neither Win98SE or Win2K supports. You should leave the VM configured for IDE.

One final note: I see that the path to the setup ISO is "...\Downloads\Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional (5.00.2195.1) (Upgrade)\W2PCCP_EN.ISO". Upgrade CD's generally require to find an earlier installation of Windows on the hard disk, or proof that you possess an earlier full setup CD.

With a Windows 2000 guest, do note the fix described in section 12.3.3 of the manual. I find I always have to use this when installing Win2K, but once the OS is installed, then everything is fine.

Windows 98 setup can also crash, but for different reasons and in different circumstances. Again, once installed the system has no problems (at least assuming you are using the SE version of Win98).
