Hello all,
I'm trying to add a PCI multi-port serial expander by RocketPort in a Win XP VM but the card is never recognized when installing the software drivers. Any thoughts?? Your help is appreciated.

Re: Configure Rocketport in Win XP
The VM is a separate PC, and as a rule does not have direct access to host hardware. What is the host OS?
Re: Configure Rocketport in Win XP
The host operating system is Windows 7.

Re: Configure Rocketport in Win XP
In that case you certainly can't do it. PCI redirection is only theoretically supported on Linux hosts (and no one has ever reported success there either).
Otherwise the obvious rule applies: Virtual Machines use virtual hardware, not actual hardware. The only possible way to access PCI serial ports from a VM would be to install them in the host OS then configure mappings in the VM serial settings for up to 4 guest ports.
p.s. Topic moved to "Windows Hosts".

Thanks for your feedback, I think I'll not pursue this any further at this time.
