What is the purpose of VBoxREM64.dll?

Again and again and again.
And before you ask, no, I can't update VB. Tried it, got two BSOD in a row (the first time I saw BSOD on this system in years), and rolled back to 3.12.

Yes. It was fairly short.

Then, perhaps, you should re-read it. I am not asking for assistance, I am asking for explanation.
That said DLL (along with VBoxREM32.dll) is missing any versioninfo or other clues that might point to its purpose, denying any further investigation.
At first I though it's something malicious, because of that, and because the system is 32-bit, while the name suggests the relevance to 64-bit system, which lead me to believe in an attempted deception.
