seamless mode - incorrect window resize

seamless mode - incorrect window resize

windows 8 host, debian guest, latest version VB
switching to seamless mode works but the program windows are resized incorrectly
there's about 1cm gap from the top of the monitor (tried both internal and external monitor)
what's wrong?
