Numlock inoperable Linux Host with Win7 Guest

When first built, the numlock operates correctly. However, at some random point, it switches itself off and cannot be switched on again.
Host: Linux Mint 17.1 Cinnamon x64
Guest: Windows 7 x32
VB 4.3.2
Though this has been the same for as long as I've VB which is about 4 years!
A fix would be nice
