Bridged network doesn't work anymore since updates

Hello everyone,

I'm on windows 7 family and running a ubuntu from Virtualbox 4.3.20.

A few days ago everything worked fine. I was on my bridged network and was able to access Internet from my Ubuntu and was able to reach my apache server hosted on ubuntu from my browser on windows... But since I updated windows and Vbox to be on the 4.3.20 version it doesn't work anymore. First I had the issue related in "Windows 4.3.20 specifically for errors due to security" post. My virtual machine didn't launch. I fixed this by removing the KB3004394 windows update as indicated. It worked but from now I can't use a bridged network.

I checked everything, unintall and reinstall virtual box a couple of times, changed Virtual box version to 4.3.12 (my previous one) without any progress. NAT is working but I need the bridged network... I have the feeling that this issue is coming from windows update because I also tried with Vmare player and had the same issue with bridged network.

I'll try to list everything you may need to help me, please tell me if you need anything else. I'm struggling with this since yesterday now and this is driving me crazy !
- VirtualBox bridged network driver is checked on my wireless network
- No IP is set in my ubuntu network config
- Virtualbox network config is set as following :
- Access : Bridged
- Name : Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230
- Type : Intel Pro 100/1000 Desktop
- Promiscuous : All

Many thanks in advance to help me investigating

Hi,

I had almost the same problem today. Well, as often, the solution was easier than expected: I turned off the Windows firewall, but didn't think of an Avast Internet Security firewall. After disabling it, all services could be accessed from the network again. Maybe instead of disabling the option "Shared Internet Connection" (inside Avast) could have helped as well.
