can't copy and paste between host and guest

Post by gerinimo »

I have a linux virtual machine called slitaz

I can highlight text in the command line and click the middle mouse button and it pastes, within the virtual machine.

But I can't share clipboard with the host OS.

Many times I have chosen Device..Install Guest Additions though nothing comes up when I do and I don't know whether it has installed?

I have shared devices...shared clipboard set to bidirectional, and devices.."drag and drop" set to bidirectional.

But host cannot see guest's clipboard, and guest cannot see host's clipboard. host copy/pastes to host. Guest copy/pastes to guest.

Keep in mind that the shared clipboard works only for simple text and some simple graphics, not for everything. Can you copy/paste between (let's say) Notepad and gedit?
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

If all you have done is mount the guest additions .iso the guest additions definitely aren't installed. You need to take a look at How To Install Guest Additions. Also check the users manual.
