am getting a differnet ip address in virtualbox
Pls can someone help me here, i am a newbie. i have been trying to setup a windows server 2008 on a virtualbox, but i am getting a diiferent ip address from host to quest os... my host virtualbox connection is 192.168.56.1 and my quest ip is 169.256.20.202.........i am using NAT and Host-only connection.is my host and quest not supposed to be on the same subnet?

The host and guest are separate PCs, so naturally their IP addresses are different.

This actually suggests that the guest is not seeing the host-only DHCP server and is assigning an APIPA address. If setup properly the guest should get something like 192.168.56.101my host virtualbox connection is 192.168.56.1 and my quest ip is 169.256.20.202..
Run the following in a command window and post the results.
