My win 7 guest thinks the virtual HD is full, showing only 500 mb free of 25 gb, whereas there should be many gbs free. Any thoughts?

btw, have you checked to see how many restore points you have?

Edit: there's just one .sav file in the snapshots folder...does this equate to amount of restore points?

I take it you don't use Windows much? The restore points would be in the Windows Guest. You can also run Disk Cleanup in Windows to get rid of Temp files that may be taking up space.

btw, when you are asked for a vbox.log file, you should shutdown the guest first. And compress it.

No, I obviously don't use Windows much. Still don't know where to look for the restore points nor their relevance.

So can I change the size of the virtual hd at this stage or am I hosed?

When I copied and compressed the vbox.log file, the guest wasn't running but it also wasn't shut down. Is this a problem or just a less useful log file. Thanks.

It's not that hard but if you don't have much installed in your Windows guest that works too.

Hopefully you hadn't recently activated it either, because frequent reactivations of the same Windows license can be a bit of a pest.

The unofficial but possibly friendlier (GUI based) way to enlarge a disk is to use the CloneVDI tool. On a Mac host you would need to run this under Wine - which is available from in the app store I believe.

Actually Wine is is not available on the App Store but it is available in most all Mac download sites; Softpedia, MacUpdate etc.

Really? I'm not a Mac user, but I'm sure I've heard others report that Wine is available from the app store. It's been packaged in some fashion and called something wine-related (e.g. WineBottler), but basically it's Wine for the Mac.
