Hi, I have an XP vm running in W7. I noticed that the original vdi was outside the folder named after the vm and that the vm was booting from a snapshot.
I wanted to see if the vdi was necessary so I moved it to a folder, When I did that, the vdi 'became' a folder that appears empty. Now the vm won't boot as the vdi is inaccessible
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thx

I don't have an answer for you but I am anxious to see if anyone else has a clue. Files do not just leave their folders nor does one type of fie transform itself into another form. Based on your description I would say your computer is "haunted" or "possessed" but I look forward to seeing what someone else has to say.

It sounds like you're having filesystem problems in your host. I would run a thorough filesystem check (a couple of times). I really hope you have a recent backup and a spare hard drive.
