"F8" key error on virtual box

hi everybody, I am using Macbook Air (OS 10.9) and Oracle virtual box version 4.2.4 of course for using windows 8. i couldnot run windows 8 in safe mode, i mean the "F8" is not working to open win8 in safe mode in order to install virtual box guest additions!!, could u plz help me?

My ears were burning.
FWIW, I have never installed the GAs in safe mode in any version of WIndows 7 or later. XP yes.
