Couple question on Ubuntu 8.04

Post by mglassco »

Everything worked well on 7.10 now I cannot get the Guest Additions to work? I click the menu item and nothing.

Also I don't think I ever had USB support before but now I keep getting the error below. I would love to be able to use the USB for my cellphone. Is this something I can potentially get to work?

Could not load the Host USB Proxy Service (VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND). The service might be not installed on the host computer.

Your guest additions may be because you already have your cd-rom mount, first unmount it and then try install guest additions.

It's possible that you have autorun disabled, or that the Guest doesn't get triggered by the mount. Use the file browser of your Guest to navigate to the CD and run the appropiate file with admin/root privileges.

As for USB, there is a nice howto here somewhere which describes how to get USB working on Ubuntu perfectly. If you follow what it says, there shouldn't be any problems.
