VERR_ZIP_CORRUPTED on an ova that I just exported

Post by wcanyon »

Code: Select all

Failed to import appliance D:\share\Win7-64b-vm.ova.

Could not create the imported medium 'd:\vm\Win7-64b-Office2010\Win7-64b-vm-disk1.vmdk'.

VMDK: Compressed image is corrupted 'C:\Users\---------\Win7-64b-vm-disk1.vmdk' (VERR_ZIP_CORRUPTED).

Result Code: VBOX_E_FILE_ERROR (0x80BB0004)
Component: Appliance
Interface: IAppliance {3059cf9e-25c7-4f0b-9fa5-3c42e441670b}
Scenario:

Machine A, Machine B, both Win7 64b, both running 4.3.20 (hey while we're here, why does that About box disappear if I click away? I'd like to read it while I'm writing here so I can copy down the build number)

On Machine A I export a Win7 VM to an ova file on a shared folder on Machine B. Machine A is out of disk space, so I can't run the new VM there.

On Machine B I try to import the appliance and I get the error above. I can't MD5 check the file because the file was written directly to the shared folder. Machine B has 200GB free, the appliance takes up about 8GB of disk space.

There's really not much else to do. It looks like VB failed to write the file properly. Is there anything I can do with this? It took VB 20 some minutes to export the VM to the OVA file, so trying again will take a while.

Copy the complete folder that has the guest to the other machine and then use the add feature.
See How to move guests created with => version 4.*
