Can't see mouse pointer on MAC virtual machine

Sorry this might be a newbie question. But I'm new to this whole virtualization thing.

So I'm trying to setup a MAC Virtual Machine. 't when I go into the virtual machine I can't seem to see the mouse pointer. Ie. I click on the window and it gives me that whole message "You have clicked the mouse button inside the virtual machine or pressed the host key....etc.etc...You can press the host key at any time to uncapture the keyboard"

So when I say okay to that then the mouse pointer dissapears. I don't see the mouse pointer anywhere on the virtual machine. I will swish the mouse around to see it hasn't fallen off the page and there is nothing. The mouse doesn't seem to response to anything whether it be using the scroll button. Of course when I click the host key "Right cntrl" the mouse returns to my regular computer and reappears.

Keyboard though seems to work fine as when I type things the virtual machine respond. How do I get the mouse appearing and working in the virtual machine.

I am using a USB mouse. I tried making sure that any of the mouse I have are enabled in the USB settings afterwards. That only makes things worse as then it seems the terminal doesn't respond to the Right Cntrl host key anymore.

Anyone offer some advice what I may be doing wrong here?
