I just upgraded to 4.3.20 from 4.3.12. When I tried to start a VM that had been save, not shut down, I got the following error when the VM was 97% restored:
The exception Breakpoint
A Breakpoint has been reached.
(0x80000003) occurred in the application at location 0xa2c570cd.
VirtualBox 4.3.20 r96997
Host: Windows 8.1 Pro, 64-bit
System Center Endpoint Protection
Windows Firewall enabled for public networks only
Should I have shut down all VMs before upgrading VirtualBox?
Is there a way to recover the last state of my VM? (I have a backup, but there are some changes I don't want to lose).
Thanks for any help!
Steve

Re: Exception Breakpoint error after upgrade to 4.3.20
You should always shutdown all VMs before upgrading Vbox.
Many times saved states still work, but this is not guaranteed.
You could try to downgrade back to 4.3.12, maybe then you could start and shutdown the saved VMs.

Thanks, good to know. I probably should have known this but didn't think of it at the time.Martin wrote:You should always shutdown all VMs before upgrading Vbox.

Will try your suggestion with my other VMs!
