Hi,
I have recently installed Ubuntu 14.04 x86 as a guest inside VirtualBox but it is super slow (loading system in about 1 minute, UI responds in about 5-10 seconds for each click - also the install took like 40 minutes)
Host: Windows 7 Professional x64 (Core 2 Duo T6600 @2,28GHz, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD, Mobile Intel GM45 VGA)
Guest: Ubuntu 14.04 x86 (ASSIGNED: 2GB RAM, 64MB video, 33GB HDD)
Any suggestions on what the issue might be?
Thanks,
Ioan M.

There are three groups of people. Those that can count and those that can't.

Re: Super slow Ubuntu 14.04 x86
I had exactly the same problem when I upgraded to 4.3.16. Just damn slow. My host:
Crosfire-V mobo
64GB RAM
AMD FX 9590 4.7GHz 8-Core
OCZ 480GB Vector 150 Series SSD
Tried creating new versions of the 14.04LTS build, all of them real slow.
Went back to 12.02LTS and it's a bit quicker, marginally. Downgraded VB to 4.3.12 and speed returned. Have not anything newer than 4.3.16 so no idea if it's version related.
Everything is running lightning fast on 4.3.12, try that version, see if it helps.

Re: Super slow Ubuntu 14.04 x86
I looked up your CPU. It has no VT-x support so most guests will be slow. Especially any Ubuntu guest running Unity. It really needs VT=x/AMD-V support along with 3D acceleration.Ioan M. wrote:Hi,

Wow, never thought that Ubuntu will require more than Windows
Guess I'll have to settle for Windows 'til the end of this year and upgrade my system in January.
Thanks a lot for your help!
