I am getting an error on starting any of my VMs:

A few more details wouldn't harm you. So, I'm going to go on an assumption over here and say that you're running VirtualBox > 4.3.12 and you have some antivirus or some firewall or some debugger. If that's the case, take a look at Windows 4.3.20 specifically for errors due to security.
You see, starting with 4.3.14 VirtualBox there were some changes introduced in the Windows version that conflicted with several of the aforementioned group of programs. You have a couple of options. If the latest and greatest (from the thread above) doesn't fix it, you can revert to 4.3.12 until your specific problem is fixed.
