New versions are slower to start but perform better

Post by just_to_report_a_bug »

One thing I'd noticed with version 4.3.18 is that virtual machines were taking up a few seconds before they would start. This wasn't an issue in 4.3.12 which I was using for a long time due to the hardened security policy which was preventing me from upgrading.

So, I ran PassMark a few times and I found out that the versions are actually faster :)

Here are the results:

Code: Select all

                   4.3.12 4.3.18
---------------------------------------
CPU Mark: 924.5 908.7
2D Graphics Mark: 940.2 1031.5
Fonts and Text: 69.7 65.7
Windows Interface: 80.8 107.2
Memory Mark: 427.1 451.3
Disk Mark: 594.6 745.4
CD Mark: 6464.1 7342.8
3D Graphics Mark: 56.1 54.7
                   --------------------
PassMark Rating: 489.2 493.5
Thanks guys!

(I would provide stats for 4.3.20 but the hardened security again prevents VirtualBox from running on my system, though I'm confident that the talented programmers will sort this out)

If you run the benchmarks on the guest, I wouldn't trust them, even if they show an improvement ;)
