Can't read certificates from a PC/SC smartcard

I have a Windows XP guest on a Linux host (Kunbuntu 8.06) with Vitualbox 1.6.0
I configure the usb and get Windows to detect the smart cad reader (USB OMNIKEY Cardman 3120). When I put the card into the reader, Windows detects there is a card inside, but there is no way to read the certificates from it.
If I use a smart card application such as Data Doctor Recovery, it detects the reader but says that "No SIM Card is inserted".
Everything runs fine in a real Windows XP system in the same machine.
Does it happen the same to somebody else? Is there any way to fix this?
Thanks...
