Win 7 64-bit host fully up-to-date, VB 4,3,18 r96516
One VM for testing Win 10

Hi all;
I have successfully created the VM and installed Win10 from the recently released ISO file.

I want to remove the attachment of the ISO file but "Remove Attachment" is greyed out when I right click on the attached file name. The select file icon in the Attributes panel is greyed out as well.

The ISO originally (during install of Win10) was on an USB flash drive and in the n=meantime has been moved to a hard disk on another computer. Doe VB need to have the attached ISO accessible to remove the attachment? That would be kind of not too logical - or am I wrong here?

TIA for some enlightenment.
Eike

PS: I have supplied the ISO on a USB drive (same drive letter) but get the same result.

Shut down fully the guest VM. Go to VM Settings, Storage and remove it from there.

Thank you sacratis.
The guest machine hasn't been started at all; it definitely is not running.

Well, it seems I have a lot to learn about VB.

I clicked Discard thinking it would discard the VM but whatever it did finally I could remove the attached ISO file and it's running great.

The machine was in a Saved state. You saved the guest, you didn't shut it down, that's why you were seeing this. Saving a machine is like freezing it. Of course you cannot change anything in the hardware because when you resume it it's going to be a different machine. Not good for the client OS.

Socratis,
Thank you again and especially for the good explanation.
