Win8.1 P2V Migration on Xubuntu 14.04 - Keyboard not working

Hello,

i P2V migrated my Win8.1 from my HDD to a vmdk using VMware converter.
Everything but my Keyboard works good.
In Windows Device Manager there is a problem shown with PS/2 Keyboard. Device could not be started.
I found out that PS/2 support gets deactivated by Windows if you connect a USB Keyboard (What a BS!).
I already tried the following solution:
Set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt start value to 1.
But that did not help.
I tried to set the start value in cmd via sc:
sc config i8042prt start= demand
That did not help.

Anybody an idea?

Thanks in advance,
Carsten

Start Windows in safe mode, and uninstall the VMWare tools. Next time you do a P2V, try using something generic such as Disk2VHD rather a VMWare specific tool - unless your plan is to use VMWare.

Thanks for your reply. VMWare tools are not installed on the Guest. But i am going to try it with Disk2VHD now.
