It took me a little bit to install the Guest Additions which are hosted on Win7x64 Home Premium but they installed without error and I'm able to share a folder successfully with the following problems:

• I am unable to traverse a shortcut in the top level directory to a lower level directory on the shared drive; it states that it cannot find the path
• I am unable to install any program from the top level directory of the shared drive; it returns an error stating that it cannot find the path
• I am able to open documents and videos regardless of the directory level without having path problems unlike an install
• I am unable to access any USB Kingston thumb drive regardless of it being listed with the bullet in front
• I am unable to access any USB WD My Book hard drive regardless of it being listed with the bullet in front
• My mouse is a connected via wireless USB port and works fine
• My Windows 10 installation disc I saved to a virtual CD on the host, drive J. I'm assuming this is moved to my *.vdi workspace which is saved on the host on Drive E. I presume the *.vdi becomes my C drive.
• I am able to access the Guest Additions installation as my D drive which is listed as a CD. I'm not sure how it got allocated to that drive although I installed Virtual Box from a drive that is networked and shared to the host OS and mapped as the S drive although the installation is down several levels from the shared directory

Hope you're able to resolve some of these problems.

I had the same problems with the x86 version of Windows 10 and M$ confirmed that build is borked.

Try downloading the x64 version (if your host will support it) as this version corrects many issues (the sharing and drive attachment problems you report) loading Win10 into a VM. The ISO you download should be named "en-gb_windows_technical_preview_x64_dvd_5552501.iso".

It doesn't matter what kind of mouse you have, input devices are attached to VB VM's differently, set by the host. You SHOULD NOT try to manually attach it. The exception would be an alternative input device (attached in addition to a mouse) like a pen/tablet, separate numberpad, trackpad, etc.

The ISO, or any CD/DVD device you attach to a fresh VB VM will default to drive letter "D". Unless the drive is taken by another device. IE: Second virtual HDD. Once you install the OS in a VM, you can detach the ISO safely and move it wherever you want. Should you need to attach it again, load it from the new location. It will still appear internally to the VM as drive letter "D".

Again, with Guest Additions, when they are "inserted", the drive letter (internal to the VM) defaults to "D". This is not important. As long as they get installed. Again, you can safely detach this drive when finished.

I am using the 64-bit version.

I'm not having much luck find the version you're recommending. It's seems that it's been largely deleted perhaps for a newer release?

Wouldn't the update process within Win10 upgrade to newer preview versions? I seem to remember setting something to check at a certain time of day. I guess I'm going to answer my own question here - yes they are suppose to download. MS has added a fast/slow ring to determine how quickly you receive the new version...not how fast it downloads but how fast it's available to your machine. So I'm downloading that and then I'll see where I am at.
