How Do you configure USB to connect a board via USB?

Post by glennpl »

I am running win 8.1 as host and the guest vm is win vista. I am doing embedded development. I need to connect board to my host via USB for I can download binary. I have a driver for the connection(the driver is not compatible with win 8.1 host but is compatible with guest win vista). I was reading online and they were using usb filters to access usb devices. Im not familiar with filters would like some direction

I tried connecting board to usb port but the device was not listed under devices usb. I connected thumb drive and the device was listed and I was able to install software from thumb drive. I did connect board . I was hoping creating the filter would list the usb device under devices usb but device is not listed. I do not have a compatible driver on host for usb device thats the reason Im using virtual box to create VM. FYI I have installed extensions. I have checked the usb 2.0 option under usb. All the usb devices are detected mouse, keyboard, wifi but not the board. FYI Guest additions is installed
