Hi, after upgrading to VB 4.3.18 and installed the 4.3.18 extesnsion pack and update the guest addition. I cannot use anymore the usb 3 external hd.
The host system is Ubuntu 12.04 64 the guest is windows XP 32. The hd are correctly detected and i can see them under the use device menu. But after checking them windows says usb device not recognized. This happen plugging the device on a usb3 port. If I use an usb2 port all work succefull.

On the previus version of Vb all worked good.

VirtualBox doesn't support USB3. Use the USB2 port.

It didn't. Unless you made a shared folder to point to a USB3 drive. The other possibility is you had a USB2 drive plugged into a USB3 port.

I looked at your post about USB from a year ago or so. In that case there was an issue with plugging a USB2 drive into a USB3 port. But USB3 drives are still not supported in VirtualBox.

exactly. USB3 drives run as USB2 drives when plugged into a USB2 port. USB3 drives run as USB3 drives when plugged into a USB3 port. You can plug a USB2 drive in either a USB2 or USB3 port. VirtualBox does not support USB3.
