Re: Boot windows 8.1 takes 5 min after install virtualbox
I thought it might be worth a shot. mpack is correct though, it makes no sense that an application that isn't running would increase boot times. It doesn't on my Mac or Linux hosts. It also hasn't been reported as an issue that I have found other than yours.

I start to believe it´s magic.mpack wrote:There can be no magic involved here.
- VirtualBox cannot affect the host when VirtualBox isn't running.
- The only parts of VirtualBox which run all the time are drivers. And in fact, AFAIK only the Host-Only driver is active all the time.
- Therefore, if you remove or disable the Host-Only driver and still get the problem, then VirtualBox isn't causing it.
Difficult to identify the problem and how to reproduce it. It never worked on my windows 8.1 install.
(SOLVED)Boot windows 8.1 takes 5 min after install virtualbo
SOLVED! Disabled virtualbox bridge network driver in ALL my network connections, EXCEPT my LAN connection which i use to bridge in virtualbox. Thank you all for your effort.

Re: Boot windows 8.1 takes 5 min after install virtualbox
The bridged adapter shouldn't be active unless some VM is tapping into it. Therefore I suspect your problem was actually not with VirtualBox at all, but with the MAX_NUM_FILTERS registry setting in Windows 8.1. And possibly only affecting your wireless NIC.
Re: Boot windows 8.1 takes 5 min after install virtualbox
I had three adapters. Lan, ndis for my eye-tracker and an openvpn. I deleted the openvpn adapter and disabled virtualbox bridge network driver on the ndis adapter. I have no wireless nic. How can i change the topic title?mpack wrote:The bridged adapter shouldn't be active unless some VM is tapping into it.
