trying to use usb port in win vista 32bit

The host is win 8.1. First I will have to copy files from thumb drive to host vm. I dont know how to setup usb, when inserting the thumb drive the host machine win 8.1 is prompted but the virtual machine is not how do i configure usb ports. I would like to copy files from thumb drive to win vista vm. I am new to virtual box.
