Guru Meditation - Critical Error

Post by Bre »

I am using VirtualBox on Windows 7 OS to run an appliance for an online computer science class through Harvard on edex called CS50, the appliance is a Linux-based appliance called the CS50 Appliance. Every time I try to start the appliance (with default settings) I get a critical error at various stages, from literally just starting the appliance to sometimes once I actually get the appliance to show the "desktop." I have uninstalled and re-installed both VirtualBox and the CS50 Appliance multiple times. I'm not sure where to go from here, I'm entirely new to computer science and I have never run a virtual machine before. Can anyone help?

We can't say much if you don't give details of the error, including the exact wording and the context in which it occurs, and the VirtualBox version.

It would also be useful if you provided a VM log file: Right click VM in GUI, select "Show Log", save "VBox.log" to a file, zip file and attach here. Make sure the VM is shut down before you collect the log of the session.

Do you know which version of CS50 you have? 19, 17, 3, 1.4 etc?

here is the page to correctly install the appliance. https://manual.cs50.net/appliance/19/virtualbox/
