Win10 Preview Video modes

Post by andyross »

I'm trying out the Win10 Tech preview in Virtualbox. It is the latest with the Win10 updates and the Guest additions are installed.

If I have 3D enabled, the Virtualbox video driver is used in the guest, but it doesn't work very well. I often get glitchy graphics and black screen.

I tried then with 3D disabled. Win10 then reverts to the basic driver, and not the Virtualbox driver. Is that normal? I've tried reinstalling the guest additions with 3D disabled, but that didn't help. While booting up, I can see the screen switch to the 3D screen size, then it drops to the slightly smaller basic driver size when the login screen shows up.

Is this normal, or do I have to change or uninstall/reinstall something to get the driver working properly?

You have to wait until VirtualBox is tweaked to work with Windows 10.

What did you do to get it working? I am running the latest 4.3.18 version of VirtualBox.

@andyross,

Pay no attention to dsherman. I seriously doubt he can shed any light on your issue. The glitches are being seen by just about everyone and will come and go until the release date gets closer. It has to do with the host graphics as well so some do not see the glitches as bad.
