10.6 keeps hanging after a short while

Always get the beach ball after a couple of minutes. Sometimes not even able to start safari, sometimes getting 3-5 minutes before beach ball.

Host: iMac 27-inch, mid2010, 3.2GHz i3, 12GB Memory, running 10.9.5 (13F34)
Guest: downloaded mac_os_x_v10.6_build_10a432_user_dvd.dmg from Apple.
Virtualbox: 4.3.18r96516

Installation and boot only works when only using 1 CPU, but with that setting installed fine. Did convert dmg to .iso.cdr though.
Now starts fine, but constantly hangs.

Any ideas?

1) Disable the sound in the VM Settings. Usual culprit.
2) Rename/delete "/System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext".
3) Read "Status of OSX on OSX".

And if the advice socratis gave doesn't work, compress a copy of a VB log for a session where this happens and attach it to your next post.
