Occasional BSOD when launching VM's from desktop shortcuts

Post by Jack Hallissey »

Hi, I'm having a bit of a problem with launching virtual machines with desktop shortcuts. This doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen occasionally. When I launch a VM with a desktop shortcut, sometimes a get a windows blue screen of death. I think the error is the following SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (VBoxDrv.sys) (This is the windows 8 BSOD so there isn't as much information.) This only happens with desktop shortcuts, it doesn't happen when you launch the VM from the Virtualbox Manager window. Because of that, this is more of a nuisance than an issue. Thanks in advance.

Sorry if I'm being stupid, but I can't see any solution to it on that page.

It's a bug report, without a solution. Not yet, at least.
