[SOLVED] General error - DON'T USE THIS!!!

Ok, so recently I have been having this issue with virtualbox (4.3.16)

So I go to open my Virtual Machine, and i get this error, General Failure - DON'T USE THIS!!! (VERR_GENERAL_FAILURE) , At first I thought it was a virus , because it says, don't use this, So I scanned with Avast! Anti-virus, after some reserch I found avast was the problem, so I have removed avast, Still the same problem, I have used all sorts of software to remove viruses, malware: Hitman Pro, Avast! Anti-virus, AVG Zen, Microsoft security essentials, Malware bytes anti-malware, ect. If you don't believe the error, I will attach an Image.

I cannot update to the latest virtualbox because I have bug which is known, Integrated Intel GPU and an Nvidia Geforce 610m , I am using a laptop, I have 6GB ram, If I upgrade to the latest version I cannot make 64bit vm's. I have reinstalled Windows 7 facing the same error still.

This happens with ALL of my virtual machines.
I had to upload the image with 8bit colors because the max file size for this site is 128kb
Any Help or suggestions?


EDIT: * I have found the log files in my user directory and have uploaded them, I can't make any use out of them!

I suggest that you give the latest VBox version a try (4.3.18) , and report back if you still have the problem. If you can't do that then revert to 4.3.12.

Seems to be working now, I had to run Vbox setup as admin to get the 64bit ones to show, Thanks for your help

Problem NOT SOLVED !!!

Same problem here today, with Windows Seven Pro SP1 (Legit. from HP), Intel Core i3 2120 @ 3.3 Ghz, 8 Go RAM, 64-bits & VirtualBox 4.3.18 r96516 ...
All my VMs are dead and I need them for my work everyday

Any idea before switching to VMware ???

I did'nt see another sugestion than:

- installing the latest version of VB: done
- installing it as an admin: done
- running it as an admin: done

Another info: yesterday, VB was running fine. Today, no ...

Another USEFUL tip ?

Not very nice solution, I have another computer with (I guess) hardware compatibility problems running the v4.3.12, unable to run higher versions ...
I think Oracle has some serious problems with their new versions of VB, it's a pity

We are aware of the problems with recent versions due to the introduction of "hardening" in 4.3.14. That's why each version has a discussion topic where people can keep up to date with issues, and the hardening issues specific to Windows hosts has its own discussion topic beyond that - stickied at the top of this forum if you want to help ("Security" topic).

v4.3.12 works for me ... so I'm ging to downgrade all my installs & all my VMs ...

I hope Oracle will solve the recurring problem since v4.3.14 ...
