USB disk activity freezes a Linux guest system

Starting from VirtuaBox 4.3.14, intensive write activity on an external USB disk mounted to a VM using a Linux guest freezes both the VM and the VB monitor.
The same happens with 4.3.16 and 4.3.18 releases. The hosts are iMacs running MAC OSX 10.9.5 and the guest are Linux kernels version 3.15.X, 3.16.X and 3.17.X. All works flawlessy with VB 4.3.12 (and previous revisions).
Note that the same disk, mounted to the VM as a disk managed by the host OS, works flawlessy.
Some idea?
Thanks in advance.

Well, VirtualBox doesn't write to guest drives, so it must be the guest.

Sorry for my previous (and current) bad english, "freezes both VM ..." in effect means that the USB disk device (/dev/sdb1) abruptly disappears from the guest (so the write action fails).
The failure seems to depend ONLY from the VB version (starting from 4.3.14) and is independent from the guest revision.
Can someone help me? Thanks in advance.

please attach the compressed vbox.log for the guest.
Personally I haven't noticed any change in disk behaviors up through 4.3.20. Have you been updating the extension pack along with the VirtualBox versions?

Attached is the requested VBox.log file compressed (with bzip2). The guest syslogd message is
iMac-merlino kenel: [ 793.328367] Disabling IRQ #11
The kernel is a vanilla Linux 3.17.3.

Starting from VB 4.3.22 and Linux kernels 3.18.X the problem disappears.
