Hello,
Recently tried and tried to get Virtualbox on my machine, as I've recently moved it to 8.1, and haven't used Virtualbox since Win7, on a previous physical machine.
The most info I could find, is that it's possible that there's a conflict with my NIC (Intel 82579LM, latest driver).
BSOD shows: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (ndis.sys), and I cannot seem to install Virtualbox without this happening.
Any advice appreciated. See minidump (zipped) attached if helpful.

Re: BSOD installing software / virtual networking - Win8.1
Finally resolved this.
Uninstalled the "pro set" components of the NIC (actually, removed ALL via the installer). This forced the driver to re-detect, and although it's using an older version, I do not care. The Virtualbox install then proceeded.
Would be nice to update my NIC now, but I'm fearful it'll just cause more issues. For now, I've got it working, and will leave it be.
