Windows 8 Host, Windows 7 Virtualbox, Internet Connectivity

Post by boxboxboxboxbox »

Hello,

I am going mad trying every different setting I can to get the internet to work inside virtual box.

Setup:

Host: Windows 8
Host method of Internet Connectivity: Wifi

VirtualBox: Windows 7

I have watched youtube videos and read and googled. I am stumped.

Here's what I know.

I can identify my wireless card inside the settings.
I have tried bridging, sharing, unclicking and clicking the checkbox for bridging in the adapter properties.

Tell me how I can configure this and I will be most grateful. I will be happy to provide screenshots.

Thank you :)

you shouldn't change any network settings in the guest. the VirtualBox network setting for your guest should be set to NAT or Bridged. Make sure cable connected is checked.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything. I am currently uploading a video to youtube of all my current settings. I tried NAT and bridged, as well as loads others, with drivers enabled/disabled etc.

I will post the youtube video once it is done uploading, should be a few hours as is HD and not great upload speed.

Thanks for your help :)

better late than never I've always heard. It turns out, after I read you post of course it may be related to this issue. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=64111 There is someone here who's 19 guests couldn't connect when using 4.3.18 on a Windows host. Check out the link.

I can look but I'm on a Mac host so the issue doesn't affect me. The video is probably not necessary but I'm sure what will help is if you post your problem along with the vbox.log file to that thread. :)
