I have read all the previous posts which seem to say that this issue is fixed in 4.3.18 but i'm update to date (both on host and Guest Additions installed)
I'm running Windows 7 host with integrated AMD HD Radeon 8400 card

Attached logs if anyone can help.

Does the host have a dual level video card? If so is it set to high?

Post the results of the following from the guests terminal:

Code: Select all

glxinfo | grep OpenGL

I don't believe it's dual level.
Its a desktop integrated chip.

You definitely have a problem since it doesn't show chromium/humper.

So if you would open a terminal on the guest and install the guest additions again. Take a screen shot so I can see what it says and post as an attachment.

What happens if you do not use vagrant?

In what sense? I only used vagrant to build it.
I now just start in VirtualBox.

Do you mean create a box from a pure ubuntu iso?

Tonnes of errors, but it works :x
Any idea what could be wrong with the vagrant image? It started as a server image (https://vagrantcloud.com/ubuntu/boxes/trusty64) and then had the desktop added via apt-get...

Those are warnings and can be ignored. VirtualBox does not use the graphics the same way that metal does.

As for why vagrant does not work I can't tell you. We don't use it and why it is not supported. They do a lot of their own scripts and calls and locate things out of the norm making it impossible to support.

Ok, understandable.

These are the errors that occur in the vagrant image and not the clean image
I'll have a quick look otherwise Ill have to start again with a different base box

Looks to me like you already know how to install and run a Linux guest so why beat your head against a wall? In any case we do not support the use of vagrant so if you pursue that route you will need to seek assistance from them.

For anyone else playing at home.

I was missing DRM (obvious now, from the errors)
DRM is found in package linux-image-extra-{kernel version}

Installed via
sudo apt-get install linux-image-extra-`uname -r`

Thanks for the help!
