I would like to do the same thing as mentioned in the original post however I can't understand the website.

If someone knows about an English version of the web site or a post that explains how to increase an existing vdi's maximum size I would reall appreciate it. I have googled and searched this forum and this post is the closest that I have found.

I understand a bit of German. All I can tell from the text and pictures, is that you can't increase the size of an already created vdi file. That makes sense, after all, if you buy a hard disk and it's full, you can't expand the disk, you have to buy a new one and clone your existing hard drive to the new one, then ajust the partition(s) to meet you need.

So, all you have to do is create a new VDI that is larger, clone the two hard drives using a cloning program (in the link they use some sort of Linux distro to clone it, but there are other programs that can do it with a GUI). After the clone is done, check your partitions and increase it if needed. That is all. Then boot on the new disk and it should work just fine. The Guest might run a disk check, but that is normal.

Thanks for the explanation. Now that you mention it that way it makes sense.
