I Fixed Bridged Networking on OSX

I virtualbox, I manually set the mac address for the virtual interface to match the mac address of the physical adapter.

For the longest time despite searching the web and forums I was not able to get a host, in this case WindowsXP to work, when its network adapter was set as Bridged Networking. Initially, DHCP would sometimes work in the host, but I could never ping the default gateway. It appeared only broadcast was working.

Configuration
-OSX Mavericks
-using and Intel PCIX NIC with MacOSX's built-in VLAN functionality.
-In Virtualbox, I set up Bridged networking to the appropriate vlan interface.(ifconfig on OSX will list all the interfaces that you have created. They will exist weather or not you actual use them in the network control panel.)
-for the record, osx was not also using that vlan interface. It was not added in the network control panel.

Big, BIG mistake. Do not do that. MAC addresses are supposed to be unique. Globally. Press the "Generate new random MAC" in the Settings, Network, Advanced pane to get a new address. And do not mess with things that you don't really understand.

Do you mean a guest or are you in the wrong forum (Mac hosts)?

Can you clarify that? Are you saying that you're bridging to an unused/inactive network card?
